Aquatic Mentors and Aquatics Industry Experts

Our “stand” is to enrich the lives of children who require and deserve additional, specialised and professional nurture, support and enablement.

To inspire confidence, unlock potential and equip aquatic professionals with strategies that foster empowerment and success when they work with children needing specialist support.

We are a demonstration of collaboration and interdisciplinary cooperation designed to make the lives of children, families and communities healthier, happier and easier.

With a combined 70 years of experience in the aquatics industry, Ruth and Lyn have become leaders in program development, training, and advocacy for inclusive aquatic practices.

Ruth, with a background in Sport Science and Social Science, has pursued international expertise to enhance her services, traveling globally to adopt world-class practices. She is a recipient of the National Award for Access and Inclusion (Australia) and has presented her insights at conferences world-wide. Ruth’s qualifications include training in Total Immersion (Australia), the Halliwick Concept (Singapore), Swim Abilities (Canada), Swim Angelfish (USA) and the Aquatic Therapy and Rehabilitation Institute – Aquatic Therapy (USA).

Lyn, with a foundation in Physical Education and Human Movement, has also been recognized for her contributions to the aquatics industry. She is a skilled trainer in areas such as Water Safety, Babies and Infants and Access and Inclusion. Lyn is committed to sharing her knowledge through comprehensive teacher training and professional development and has done so, globally.

In 2023, Ruth embarked on a research project with Western Sydney University (Australia) to gather Australian evidence on the benefits of Aquatic Therapy. Her goal is to elevate aquatic therapy to a recognised allied health profession, positioning Australia as a leader in the field.

Together, they have witnessed a shift in the learn-to-swim landscape, marked by an increase in students with challenging behaviours. Recognizing the need for better teacher preparation, Ruth and Lyn have developed a training program tailored to equip swim teachers with the skills, confidence and empowerment needed to thrive in this evolving environment.
